Michigan Wolverines wide receiver Darryl Stonum was dismissed from the program in January for “a violation of team rules.”

    Former Michigan WR Darryl Stonum Transferring To Baylor

    Stonum will be eligible to play immediately, provided he finds a graduate program at Baylor which isn’t offered at Michigan. Stonum missed the 2011 season due to disciplinary reasons - namely, a second drunk driving arrest - and was kicked off the Wolverines’ squad in January after violating his probation.

    Darryl Stonum Names Eastern Michigan As Candidate For His Services

    The move isn’t official, and Stonum apparently has other suitors besides just EMU, but he says he likes coach Ron English and hopes to make a decision by May 8. He also tells Meinke he thinks he’ll be able to play next season.

    Stonum finished second in Michigan receiving yards in 2010 before missing all of 2011 due to an alcohol-related suspension. He’s also an accomplished kick returner, putting up 1,001 return yards in 2009, a Michigan record. He’s struggled to stay out of trouble though, violating probation multiple times and being jailed twice during his Wolverines career.
