Tommy Rees Pleads Not Guilty, Carlo Calabrese Charged With Intimidation

Notre Dame Fighting Irish teammates Tommy Rees and Carlo Calabrese have now appeared in court in response to their May 3 arrests at a party. Quarterback Rees has pled not guilty to his four misdemeanor charges -- which were at one point believed to include a felony, but the battery charge was reduced. Rees' charges now stand as one count of battery, two counts of resisting law enforcement and one count of illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.

Linebacker Calabrese was charged with a misdemeanor count of intimidation for, among other things, saying, “My people will get you” multiple times to a South Bend police officer during Rees’ arrest.

Rees started for the Irish last year, putting up 2,871 yards and 20 touchdowns, completing a healthy 65 percent of his passes. However, he’s best known for his red zone turnovers. With 14 interceptions and five lost fumbles, Notre Dame’s offense just couldn’t get out of its own way with Rees at the controls.
