Former Northwestern Wildcats quarterback Dan Persa's dreams of playing in the NFL appear to have ended. He injured his right Achilles tendon during a workout with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and will need to have a second surgery on it. This will likely end his chances at a professional career. As he told the Chicago Tribune recently:
Dan Persa Needs Right Achilles Surgery Again
Former Northwestern Wildcats quarterback Dan Persa injured his right Achilles tendon for a second time and will need surgery on it again. His professional career is likely over.

“If football doesn’t work out,” he told the Tribune on Tuesday, “I’m OK with it.”
Persa injured the Achilles tendon in early May and will require surgery in August to correct it. However, the extent of the injury won’t ever get him back to 100 percent.
He previously blew out his right Achilles tendon in Nov. 2010, but was able to return last fall and led the Wildcats to a bowl game. He threw for 2,380 yards and 17 touchdowns while completing 73 percent of his passes.
