Isaiah Crowell Will Transfer To Alabama State, According To Report
Isaiah Crowell’s football career is far from over. The running back, dismissed from Georgia in June after an arrest on a felony charge, is reportedly going to start over this fall at Alabama State, according to UGASports.com, Rivals’ Georgia site.
Crowell stands accused of possessing a weapon in a school zone, and possessing an altered ID mark, both felonies. He has hired top-flight lawyer Steve Sadow, one of Georgia’s finest defense attorneys, to represent him in the case, but may not need to be cleared of wrongdoing to be eligible to play for the Hornets.

None of the others was charged with anything.
“An Athens-Clarke County Magistrate Court judge later in the morning granted Crowell a $6,000 bond and placed him on a 10 p.m. curfew,” reports the Athens Banner-Herald.

Crowell produced 909 yards and six touchdowns in 2011, earning SEC Freshman of the Year honors despite frequent concerns about his off-field endeavors and his nagging injuries. He was both benched and suspended during the season after coming aboard as a heavily hyped five-star freshman.

Two of the five mentioned in Kirk’s piece are talented freshmen Keith Marshall and Todd Gurley, both of North Carolina.
Marshall was arguably the top running back recruit in the country in last year’s signing class. At 5’11 and 190 pounds, Marshall has the size to handle 100 or more carries in the SEC. More importantly, perhaps, is Marshall’s ability to hit the home run. Marhsall combines excellent speed with tremendous quickness, and as the saying goes, if he’s even, he’s leavin’. Georgia was already expected to incorporate Marshall into its offense thanks to his big-play ability. Now he may be in line for a larger role.

For the sake of argument, though, let’s say Crowell faces something like a four-game suspension if those two felonies are dropped. He’d miss games against Buffalo, Missouri, FAU and Vanderbilt, returning for Tennessee and South Carolina. That’s just a general look at the early schedule.
Malcome is the most interesting player here. He was also suspended last year -- and at one point wanted to transfer before changing his mind. Since then, he’s earned his way into Richt’s good graces, even being named the Outback Bowl starter.
