Ohio State running back Jordan Hall with miss 10 weeks after undergoing foot surgery, the university announced in a press release Saturday. Hall reportedly cut his foot while walking in grass Wednesday, leading to the unexpected procedure and rumors on Twitter before anything could be confirmed by Hall or the Buckeyes.

Hall will almost certainly miss the Buckeyes’ season opener against Miami (Ohio) University, and should be questionable at best the following week against Central Florida. For what it’s worth, Hall remains optimistic.

With Hall out, junior Carlos Hyde will likely carry an even greater load. Hall and Hyde split carries behind Dan Herron last season. Hall had 405 yards and two touchdowns on 99 carries. Hyde 566 yards and six touchdowns on 106 carries.
