If there was any impediment to the USC Trojans becoming national championship contenders, it's their ability to stay healthy. USC is currently under scholarship restrictions that limit them to 75 players rather than the standard 85, forcing the Trojans into constant scholarship-management mode as they're putting their depth chart together.
USC DE DeVante Wilson Out For Season
USC Trojans defensive end DeVante Wilson is out for the 2012 season after another torn ACL.

Michael Lev of the Orange County Register files this report on another crucial injury, this one to USC defensive end DeVante Wilson.
Freshman defensive end DeVante Wilson will miss the 2012 season after tearing the ACL in his left knee Tuesday, USC coach Lane Kiffin announced. Wilson missed last season because of a torn right ACL. Because he didn’t enroll until January, he’ll still have four years of eligibility after this one.
Wilson will end up redshirting this season. Considering it’s his second torn ACL in as many years, it can’t bode well for his future with the Trojans.
Wilson figured to be one of many Trojans that was competing for the second defensive end spot with Wes Horton secure on the other side, and Devon Kennard likely out for most of the season. Now that Wilson is out, USC is down to junior college transfer Morgan Breslin, junior Kevin Greene and freshmen Leonard Williams and Greg Townsend.
