University of Michigan Athletic Director David Brandon calls a report that players smoked pot prior the 2007 loss to Appalachian St. “ridiculous,” according to CBS Detroit.

“It’s an unattributed source and, believe me, if I worried about all of the inaccurate information that flew around the Internet from bloggers from unattributed sources, I wouldn’t have time to do my job,” Brandon told WWJ Newsradio 950′s Sandra McNeil. “So, I don’t know anything about it other than it sounds pretty ridiculous to me.”

Chat Sports reported yesterday that an unnamed former Michigan player claimed that nearly half the team was high on marijuana prior to the game, including smoking just hours before kickoff. Michigan AD Brandon denies any such thing was possible, because the team’s strict schedule the night before and the day of a game keeps the players in constant contact with coaches and trainers.

In the first game of the 2007 season, the Michigan Wolverines became the first AP Top 25 team to lose to a Division 1 FCS team, when they lost to Appalachian St. 34-32 in the final seconds of the game.
