Clemson Tigers head football coach Dabo Swinney says cornerback Martin Jenkins will require surgery for a "sports hernia-like" issue and could potentially miss the season, according to Travis Sawchik, Clemson beat writer for the Charleston Post & Courier:

Jenkins, a junior, could receive a medical redshirt and therefore retain a year of eligibility.
He is the most experienced of Clemson’s cornerbacks, with 25 games under his belt. Last season, Jenkins played in all 14 of the Tigers’ games and made three starts, finishing the season with 36 tackles.
Clemson is still deep at the cornerback position as they feature juniors Darius Robinson, sophomore Bashaud Breeland and freshmen Cortez Davis.
The Tigers open the season against the Auburn Tigers on Sept. 1 at the Georgia Dome.
