Matt Barkley will once again lead USC's offensive attack, as the quarterback opted to return to school for his senior season, rather than enter the 2012 NFL Draft. Barkley led the Trojans to a 10-2 record last year but, because of NCAA sanctions, the Trojans were banned from participating in the Pac-12 title game, as well as bowl games.
Hawai’i, meanwhile, is coming off of a disappointing 6-7 season. The Warriors won 10 games before losing in the Sheraton Hawai’i Bowl in 2010, and will look to return to that level of success in 2012 under new coach Norm Chow.
Norm Chow, who once was an assistant coach for the Trojans, is returning six offensive starters, including 2011 leading rusher Joey Iosefa. Saturday night's game against the Trojans will mark the first of Chow's head coaching career.
Game time, TV channel: 7:30 p.m. ET, FOX
Point spread: USC favored by 39½.
