The Rebels look to rebound from the poor final two years under Houston Nutt, when they went 4-8 and 2-10. Freeze looks ready to turn the reins over to junior quarterback Barry Brunetti. The 6'1 signal caller from Memphis, Tenn. has thrown just 44 passes in his college career.
In Brunetti's backfield is junior running back Jeff Scott, who battled through injuries to rush for 529 yards and six touchdowns last season. He'll be joined by former quarterback Randall Mackey, the leading passer for the Rebels last season. The 5'11 senior hopes to add a new dimension to the Ole Miss run game.
Central Arkansas comes to Oxford after a 9-4 season in 2011 out of the FCS Southland Conference. The Bears were ousted by Montana in the FCS playoffs and will be replacing experienced quarterback Nathan Dick with Wynrick Smothers.
