In one of the oddest road trips an elite program will make this year (or any year), Oklahoma heads to El Paso, Texas, to take on Mike Price’s UTEP squad Saturday, Sept. 1.

Oklahoma heads to El Paso for its opener against Mike Price’s UTEP Miners. The Sooners have scored the past 89 points in the series.Follow @SBNationCFB

After a tumultuous offseason that saw a massive turnover at the wide receiver position and two of the Sooners’ starting offensive linemen go down with injuries, Oklahoma still is poised for a Big 12 title run built around the arm of QB Landry Jones.
Even with the changes at wide receiver, OU still features Trey Metoyer, who drew raves in the spring; junior Kenny Stills; and Penn State transfer Justin Brown, who's eligible right away. Now that running back Dom Whaley is fully recovered from a broken ankle suffered against Kansas State, the Sooners should be able to run the ball efficiently as well. As long as OU can find continuity along the offensive line, where it returns just two starters, this will again be an elite offense.
UTEP allowed 441 ypg last season, which ranked 104th in the country, and allowed more than 195 ypg on the ground (95th). Only four starters return from that defense, which may or not benefit the Miners.
Kickoff Time, TV: 10:30 pm ET, FSN
Odds: Oklahoma -30.5, Over/Under of 62.5
