Former USC and current New York Jets RB Joe McKnight is alleged to have received impermissible benefits while in school, the Los Angeles Times has reported. The accusation was brought forth as the L.A. Times investigated e-mails from former Los Angeles County assessor's office employee, Scott Schenter.

Former USC RB Joe McKnight may have received impermissible benefits while it school.
E-mail exchanges sent by Schenter, obtained by the L.A.Times, point to gifts given to McKnight and former USC basketball player Davon Jeffereson. McKnight is supposed to have received a car and a plane ticket, while Jefferson allegedly was given $3700 in cash.
USC has self-reported the potential violation to the NCAA. Impermissible benefits were the primary reason for the Trojans’ most recent NCAA sanctions, which included a two-year bowl ban and scholarship reductions.
Schenter is a central figure in a scandal currently surrounding the L.A. County Assessors office. He may have been giving the players benefits in exchange for the promotion of his advertising company.
McKnight played for the Trojan football team from 2007-2009. Jefferson played one season for the basketball team in 2007-2008.
