Missouri State Vs. Kansas State Final Score: K-State Dominates In Second Half, 51-9

Kansas State beat Missouri State 51-9 on Saturday night, kicking off their promising 2012 with a slow and concerning start before blowing the game wide open in the second half.

After a slow start in the first half for both teams, Missouri State tied the game 9-9 after an Austin Witmer 26-yard field goal just four minutes into the second half. From that point, it was all about the Wildcats and their dangerous rushing attack.

Kansas State scored 42 unanswered points in the second half, including 35 points in the fourth quarter, thanks to two Collin Klein touchdowns and rushing touchdowns by John Hubert, Daniel Sams and Braden Wilson. Hubert also scored on a 95-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats rushed 39 times for 324 yards, adding 169 yards through the air.

Box Score Hero: Collin Klein was 19-for-28 for 169 yards and two touchdowns in a workmanlike performance.

Rankings Ramifications: The slow start to the game for Kansas State may hurt the Wildcats standing at No. 22 but the late charge to put the game out of reach should keep them in the AP Top 25.

But Did They Cover? Thanks to 35 fourth-quarter touchdowns, the Wildcats easily covered the 34-point spread.
