LSU Tigers head coach Les Miles confirmed that four players have been suspended for the rest of the 2012 football season, though he would not give a reason why the players were suspended.
LSU Loses Tahj Jones, 4 Others For Season, Says Les Miles
LSU has announced that five more players will miss the remainder of the season, including four who are suspected of being academically ineligible.

The four players who are out are linebackers Tahj Jones and D.J. Welter, tight end Tyler Edwards and offensive lineman Evan Washington. Jones' loss is the biggest. The junior appears second on the depth chart at the Sam spot, with appearances in 26 games and 3.5 career tackles for loss.
It’s suspected those four players will miss the season for being academically ineligible, but during the SEC coaches’ teleconference, Miles said he could not discuss their suspension for privacy reasons:
“I don’t know that it’s fair for me to confirm that,” Miles said of academics being the reason. “There’s a privacy responsibility. Those guys will not play this year. I don’t know that I can tell you the specifics as to why and why not.”
A fifth Tigers player, sophomore defensive end Jordan Allen, suffered a season-ending knee injury during a kickoff in LSU's 41-3 win over the Washington Huskies last Saturday.
This brings the total number of LSU players out for the season to 11.
