The Oregon State Beavers football schedule was altered due to Hurricane Isaac, but the Pac-12 squad has now decided on a new date for their rescheduled game against FCS opponent Nicholls State. The game was supposed to be the season-opener for both teams.
Oregon State Vs. Nicholls State Has A New Date Now
Nicholls State -- located in lovely Thibodaux, La. -- was originally supposed to host the game, but it’s instead rescheduled to be played in Oregon on the first of December. The Associated Press reports that both teams have contingency plans in place, however, if the outcome of that game would alter either team’s postseason possibilities.
Both schools agreed to the rescheduled game at Reser Stadium. However, there is a mutual understanding that the game won’t be played if Oregon State is in the Pac-12 championship game or Nicholls State qualifies for the NCAA FCS playoffs.
It would be odd if this game was cancelled after being scheduled to be played in two different states in two different months, but it isn’t hard to understand why the teams would decide not to play the game if it could hurt their chance at playing in the postseason.
