The No. 16 TCU Horned Frogs defeated the Kansas Jayhawks in their Big 12 debut on Saturday afternoon, 20-6, despite committing three turnovers in the red zone.

The Frogs racked up almost 500 yards of total offense while holding Kansas to under 400, but they allowed the Jayhawks to stay in the game by fumbling four times, including three while inside the Kansas 20-yard line. Still, a stout defense, combined with a 10-minute advantage in time of possession, led the Horned Frogs to a win in Lawrence, Kan.
TCU quarterback Casey Pachall and wide receiver Brandon Carter proved to be a formidable combination for the Horned Frogs, as the duo hooked up for two scores on the day. In a losing effort, Kansas quarterback Dayne Crist threw for 303 yards, despite completing less than half of his pass attempts. Crist was intercepted once, and also fumbled on the goal line while attempting to score with just over a minute left in the game.
Box Score Hero: Pachall overcame two fumbles to complete 24 of 30 passes for 335 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Carter deserves a nod here too, as he caught eight balls for 141 yards and a couple of scores.
Rankings Ramifications: 13th-ranked Virginia Tech and 14th-ranked Ohio State are both currently trailing, which would basically ensure that TCU would jump at least two spots in the polls, should those scores continue to hold.
But Did They Cover? The Horned Frogs entered the game as 22-point favorites, so anybody who put money on the Jayhawks against the spread came out a winner.
