Clemson put on an offense clinic Saturday against Furman, racking up 498 total yards while only holding the ball for 21:41minutes of play in their 41-7 victory over the Paladins.

Running back Andre Ellington put the Tigers on the board first with a rushing touchdown from 10 yards out in the middle of the first. From there, Clemson would score 10 more unanswered points including a 59-yard run from WR Sammy Watkins off a sweep in which he showed off his speed.
Furman would get their only touchdown of the day off a 37-yard pass from QB Reese Hannon to freshman WR Jordan Snellings shortly after but from there it was all about the Tigers.
Clemson would go on to score 24 straight points without a rebuttal from Furman when QB Tajh Boyd began to air it out more. Both of Boyd’s touchdown passes on the day came on second-half touchdowns of 30-plus to TE Brandon Ford and WR Martavis Bryant.
On defense, the Tigers’ tackling wasn’t the sharpest today but it didn’t matter much when their potent offense had four touchdown drives of two minutes or less.
Box Score Hero: WR Sammy Watkins finished only 1 yard shy of leading the Tigers despite getting only one attempt thanks to his 58-yard, second-quarter TD sprint. Not only was it the longest run of his career but it was also his first rushing touchdown. He also chipped in four receptions for 58 yards.
Rankings Ramifications: Clemson is probably locked into their No. 11 spot unless a team ranked above them is knocked off later this evening. Their real chance at catapulting up the top 25 will be next week when they visit No. 5 Florida State.
But Did They Cover? The Tigers offense may have put up some eye-popping numbers but they still came up short of fulfilling their 40-point favorite status.
