USC Vs. Stanford: Silas Redd, Curtis McNeal Injured

USC Trojans running back Curtis McNeal left the field in pain after suffering an injury to what appeared to be his right side. He was able to walk off the field under his power. Shortly after McNeal was escorted into the locker room, Trojans running back Silas Redd also suffered an injury to his left arm.

With the ball at USC's 45-yard line and 7:39 remaining in the second quarter, the Trojans handed the ball off to Silas Redd in search for a five yard gain to pick up a first down. However, Redd was met by a pair of Stanford Cardinal defenders and stopped behind the line of scrimmage for not only a loss, but a forced turnover as Redd fumbled the ball.

It was the second time Redd lost a fumble this season. Stanford's Josh Mauro recovered the ball at the USC 42, allowing the Cardinal offense to take over with good field position.

With the Trojans losing their two top running backs, the Trojans turned to 6-foot, 250 pound freshman Soma Vainuku. After just a few plays with Vainuku, McNeal was able to return to action and take over running duties for the Trojans.
