The Oregon State Beavers try to make a statement this weekend that will put them in the top 25. The UCLA Bruins are trying to stay there.
Oregon State faces UCLA in Pasadena this weekend in a battle of top 26 football squads (Oregon State is 26th in the AP Poll, UCLA is 19th). The Bruins have romped through their non-conference schedule without much trouble despite occasional inconsistencies. They beat Rice and obliterated Houston despite sloppiness with turnovers, special teams and defensive issues, and probably put up the most impressive non-conference win of the year.
Oregon State is playing only their second game of the season. Oregon State's opening game of the season with Nicholls State was cancelled, they upset Wisconsin at home in a 10-7 victory in Corvallis, and then enjoyed their bye the week after. If anything, the Beavers have to feel pretty well-rested for their game with UCLA, but they'll be facing a Bruins squad brimming with confidence.
