Oregon State Vs. UCLA Final Score: Beavers Upset No. 19 Bruins, 27-20

The Oregon State Beavers beat the UCLA Bruins, 27-20, upsetting the No. 19 team with a defensive gameplan that shut down Johnathan Franklin.

It was their second upset of a ranked team, having beaten Wisconsin in their season opener. Sean Mannion drove the offense behind a productive passing game, connecting with Brandin Cooks and Markus Wheaton, both of whom had more than 150 yards receiving.

UCLA struggled to move the ball for the entire game, punting on eight out of 14 drives. Brett Hundley went 27-for-42 for 372 yards, but the Bruins were 2-for-15 on third down. Franklin collected only 45 yards on 12 carries, and the UCLA offense failed to achieve the tempo it had in previous weeks.

It was the opposite for Oregon State. UCLA’s defense picked up a fumble and had an interception, but they had trouble with Beavers receiving the ball in space and gave up several big plays over the middle. The Beavers had a patient, balanced attack and it produced results.

Box Score Hero: Mannion carried Oregon State, going 25-for-35 for 379 yards. Storm Woods added a strong rushing attack, picking up 96 yards on 21 carries.

Rankings Ramifications: Ranked No. 19, UCLA will certainly see a drop in the upcoming poll. After upsetting two ranked teams in two games, Oregon State has earned their way into the top 25.

But Did They Cover? Favored by 8, UCLA more than failed to cover.
