Khaled Holmes Injury Update: USC Center Hurt Again

USC Trojans starting center Khaled Holmes suffered an injury in the fourth quarter during Saturday's game against the California Golden Bears. The star center appeared to re-aggravate his right ankle injury and needed assistance to leave the field. Holmes was originally injured in a matinee against the Syracuse Orange a few weeks ago.

In his place, the Trojans summoned Abe Markowitz to replace Holmes, one of USC’s four team captains, as the team’s center. Holmes was later seen with ice wrapped around his right ankle.

Unfortunately for the Trojans, the injury appeared to be a serious one as the 22-year-old center was on the ground in pain and needed to be carted off. For the Trojans, the injury to Holmes will certainly be a huge loss. Holmes is not only the team’s best offensive lineman, but he is a leader on and off the field for the team while also being in charge of protection schemes.

Holmes is projected to be one of the top picks in the upcoming NFL Draft, but has now injured his right ankle twice this season. The 6’4”, 305-pound senior is an All-American candidate at center. The star lineman is also a top candidate for the Rimington Trophy and the Outland Trophy.
