Maybe the Utes of Utah haven't recovered from their narrow victory over BYU last week. From the very beginning, the Arizona State Sun Devils looked as if they were going to be too much for Utah to handle, scoring 21 in the first quarter alone. The Utes would tally their only points of the night in the second quarter on a Jon Hays to Karl Williams run. It would be all ASU the rest of the way, with the Sun Devils winning 37-7.
Utah Vs. Arizona State Final Score: Sun Devils Down Utes, 37-7
ASU dominated the entire game. ASU running back D.J. Foster lead the ground attack. On 10 rushes, Kelly gained a total of 70 yards. The next closest runner would be quarterback Taylor Kelly with 19 yards. In the air, ASU would have six receivers with 25 or more yards on five or less carries.
Utah quarterback Jon Hays completed 10-of-15 for 117 yards. He was not helped by his offensive line, as they allowed Hays to be sacked three times. The Utes were outrushed by 48 yards and demolished by 255 yards in the air.
Box Score Hero: Arizona State quarterback Taylor Kelly crushed the Utes with 326 yards passing on 19-of-26 for three touchdowns.
Rankings Ramifications: Both teams are currently unranked. Arizona State could be a good sleeper pick in the Pac-12, but they probably won’t crack the Top 25 this week.
But Did They Cover? Utah was given seven points as the underdog. It wouldn’t be enough.
