Per Joseph Duarte, Travis Bush will take over play-calling duties for the Cougars in 2012.
Nesbitt lasted just one game as a member of the Cougars’ staff. First-year head coach Tony Levine hired Nesbitt to be his offensive coordinator in January. Levine praised Nesbitt earlier in the year, specifically his play-calling abilities, saying, “In looking at his background, obviously in this offense and being a very, very successful playcaller. He’s exactly what I’m looking for.”
In 2011, Houston didn’t lose its first game until Southern Mississippi in the Conference USA Championship Game.
The Cougars and Cougars fans may have been spoiled recently by quarterback Case Keenum, who threw for over 5,000 yards in 2008, 2009 and 2011. David Piland was just 17-of-44 passing, for 211 yards with a touchdown and interception on Saturday, in Houston's shocking loss to Texas State.
