Marcus Davis Injury: Virginia Tech WR Fumbles, Hurts Shoulder

The Virginia Tech Hokies suffered an injury Monday night against the underdog Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets when wide receiver Marcus Davis left the field with a shoulder injury.

Davis caught a slant pattern and broke a tackle before heading upfield in search of a touchdown. Instead, Davis was caught and brought down on a hard tackle during which he fumbled the ball, which Virginia Tech recovered.

The redshirt Senior was excellent in 2011, catching 30 passes for 510 yards and five touchdowns. He's also proven to be very durable over the past couple of years. Davis has played in every game over that time, becoming one of the most reliable players on Frank Beamer's team.

The severity of Davis’ injury is uncertain. He left the field under his own power but was holding his shoulder and talking to the trainers on his way to the sideline.
