Notre Dame Radio Analyst Allen Pinkett Suspended 3 Games For ‘Bad Citizens’ Remark

Notre Dame radio analyst Allen Pinkett won’t be in the booth for a Fighting Irish game until Sept. 22, when the Irish play Michigan. The former two-time All-American missed Notre Dame’s Sept. 1 game against Navy after making some inappropriate comments in a radio interview last week. According to ESPN Chicago’s Matt Fortuna, Pinkett was suspended Tuesday for a total of three games by the Notre Dame IMG Radio Network.

Pinkett apologized Tuesday for the following remarks regarding the suspension of four Irish players, made last Wednesday:

“That’s how Ohio State used to win all the time. They would have two or three guys that were criminals and that just adds to the chemistry of the team,” Pinkett told WSCR-AM 670 last week. “I think Notre Dame is growing because maybe they have some guys that are doing something worthy of a suspension, which creates edge on the football team. You can’t have a football team full of choirboys.”

Jeff Jeffers joined Don Criqui to call last Saturday’s Navy game. It was not announced who will be in the booth with Criqui for Notre Dame’s Sept. 8 game with Purdue and the Sept. 15 game against Michigan State.
