Utah Vs. Utah State: Aggies Overwhelm Utes’ Offensive Line, Jump Out To 13-3 Lead

The Utah State Aggies have overwhelmed the Utah Utes with their aggressive defense in the first half, sacking quarterback Jordan Wynn four times while jumping out to a 13-3 halftime lead. Wynn was limited to just 47 passing yards before leaving with a shoulder injury in the final minutes of the second quarter. Normally explosive Utah running back John White has been held to a 3.8 yard average on his first 13 carries (49 yards).

Wynn was injured on Utah's final drive of the first half when he was hit for the eighth time of the game and driven down on his surgically-repaired shoulder. He would be replaced by John Hays who would lead the Utes on their first scoring drive of the game, a 42-yard field goal from Coleman Petersen.

USU safety Clayton Christensen put the first points on the board when he recovered a blocked punt in the end zone. Utah State would get their second touchdown of the day when quarterback Chuckie Keeton threw a 15-yard touchdown strike to running back Joe Hill in the closing seconds of the first quarter.

Aggies' freshman kicker Brock Warren has struggled in his debut though, missing his second extra point attempt and a 45-yard field goal in the late second that would have extended the lead to 17.
