Miami started its season off with a 41-32 victory over in-conference opponent Boston College. BC jumped out to an early 14-0 lead, but after a slow start Miami controlled the game. Freshman RB Duke Johnson ran for 135 yards and 2 TDs on only seven carries; if he can keep that pace up he'll work his way into the season awards conversation.
Kansas State started out with a bit of an easier task than Miami, beating Missouri State, a FCS school, 51-9. Much like Miami, the Wildcats also took a while to get started and only led 9-6 at halftime before finishing the game with 42 unanswered points.
Last year’s meeting between these two ended with Kansas State stopping then Miami QB Jacory Harris on fourth-and-goal with 49 seconds remaining to hold on for a 28-24 victory.
