Tennessee began the year with a 35-21 win over N.C. State in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, GA. The Volunteers scored 16 points in the final minute of the first quarter to take control of the game and never relinquished the lead.
Tyler Bray threw for 333 yards and two touchdowns while Cordarrelle Patterson caught six balls for 93 yards and a touchdown in his first game with the Voulunteers.
The Panthers began their final season in FCS with an opening week 33-6 loss to South Carolina State. Georgia State will transition to FBS next season as they get ready to join the Sun Belt Conference.
