Oklahoma came into this one as the heavy favorites, and this contest was never very close. Oklahoma jumped out to an early lead, as Damien Williams ran for a pair of scores in the first quarter. A&M would get on the board early in the second quarter when they kicked a 41-yard field goal, but Williams would rush for a third score and Landry Jones would find Kenny Stills to give the Sooners a commanding 28-3 lead with about six minutes to go in the second.
Florida A&M Vs. Oklahoma Final Score: Sooners Roll To Blowout Win As Damien Williams Runs For Four Touchdowns
A&M would do their best to make things interesting, as Damien Fleming and Travis Harvey connected for a 75-yard score on the next drive. Landry Jones would effectively end it before halftime though, finding Trey Metoyer for his second touchdown of the half with just 36-seconds remaining to send the Sooners into the locker room up 35-10.
Oklahoma would pour it on in the second half, as Brennan Clay rushed for a pair of scores and Damien Williams rushed for his fourth score of the day. It was pretty much all backups from that point on, and the only question remaining was whether the Sooners would cover the massive 54 point spread.
Box Score Hero: Damien Williams had himself a heck of an evening, carrying ten times for 156 yards and four scores. Landry Jones was 19/28 for 252 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.
Rankings Ramifications: The Sooners won in impressive fashion, but they’ll likely remain unchanged in the rankings as all four teams ahead of them in the polls won as well.
But Did They Cover? The Sooners were favored by 54 and they won by 56. It was close, but they covered the spread.
