Senior Bowl 2013: WR Quinton Patton impresses

Wide receiver Quinton Patton stars on the second day of Senior Bowl practice for the South and Tyler Wilson continues to look like the top quarterback.

With the North squad practicing in the morning, everyone was on hand to watch the South team go through their second day of practice for the 2013 Senior Bowl. Perhaps the most impressive player was Louisiana Tech wide receiver Quinton Patton.

Complete 2013 Senior Bowl coverage

Eric Galko of Optimum Scouting said Patton was "hands down" the best player of the day. Mike Loyko of NEPatriotsDraft said Patton was already separating himself from the other receivers. And Jeff Risdon of DetroitLionsDraft calls Patton the complete package.

BYU defensive end Ezekiel Ansah was tabbed as one of the four Senior Bowlers with something to prove by Mike Mayock, but came up lacking on Tuesday. While Ansah has flashes of brilliance, Mayock has said he would be "scared to death to spend a first rounder on him." His sentiments were backed up as he got easily handled multiple times on Tuesday.

Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson continued to look like the top quarterback for the South, making all the throws that were asked of him. Meanwhile, Florida State's EJ Manuel improved but had a mixed day, throwing the ball low for much of the afternoon and exhibiting a problematic shoulder drop. He had some strong throws as well, but was helped by the all-star setting.

More notes:

-- Clemson Tigers running back Andre Ellington and Tennessee offensive tackle Dallas Thomas were both absent from practice on Tuesday. As were Southern Miss linebacker Jamie Collins and Texas A&M wide receiver Ryan Swope.

-- Marcus Lattimore showed up to watch practice and was walking without a limp.

-- Stanford running back Stephan Taylor had a good day, other than an incident tripping over a pad during a footwork drill.

-- San Diego State cornerback Leon McFadden had an impressive day, showing physicality and good timing.

-- Southeast Louisiana corner, Robert Alford, impressed Loyko with his agility.
