Standing at 6'4, 221 pounds, Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones has all the physical skills and athleticism necessary to be a top quarterback and his collegiate statistics would appear to match. With 4,272 yards in his senior season, Jones threw 30 touchdowns to 11 interceptions, but still plenty of questions about his decision-making and posie exist.

On Tuesday, he told Matt Florjancic of ClevelandBrowns.com that he is set out to prove his doubters wrong with his performance at the 2013 Senior Bowl:

“I just want to prove that I’m an NFL-quality quarterback,” Jones said. “Some people might have questions. ‘Can he play under center?‘ Just from the system we played at Oklahoma, ‘Can he be in the huddle? Can he control a huddle?’ For me, I think this week is about showing teams that I can do all those things and my game translates to the NFL.”

2013 NFL Draft quarterback rankings

Two days into the week of practices at the 2013 Senior Bowl, Jones has already made some forward progress in impressing scouts, as NFL.com’s Gregg Rosenthal noted in his summary of Tuesday’s practice that Jones had a positive day:

2. Oklahoma’s Landry Jones, on the other hand, has looked good according to NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah. Jones can make all the throws and has shown improvement making plays after plays break down.

Jones threw for more than 4,000 yards in each of his final three seasons with the Sooners. He also threw no fewer than 26 touchdowns and no more than 15 interceptions in his four-year career as the team’s starter. SB Nation’s Dan Kadar ranks Jones as the No. 10 quarterback in the 2013 NFL Draft.
