Senior Bowl 2013: Marquise Goodwin lights up practice Wednesday

Texas wide receiver Marquise Goodwin is making a big impression on 2013 Senior Bowl observers at Wednesday’s practice. How much will his NFL Draft stock climb?

Texas wide receiver Marquise Goodwin is making a fast impression on observers at the 2013 Senior Bowl. At Wednesday's North squad practice, those in attendance were in near unanimous consent that the 5'9 Goodwin was among the best prospects of the day. As a result, Goodwin could see his NFL Draft rise significantly, according to Dane Brugler of CBSSports.com.

Graham could be a strong model for Goodwin’s game. He was drafted in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills (69th overall), and worked mostly out of the slot this season for a struggling offense. Graham managed to make a quiet impact as a rookie, with 31 receptions for 322 yards and a touchdown. He saw his targets increase significantly late in the season, though that may have had something to do with Donald Jones and David Nelson landing on IR.

Like Graham with the Bills, Goodwin was used sparingly with the Longhorns. He had a very strong Alamo Bowl performance against Oregon State, however, catching four passes for 68 yards and a touchdown. He blew past defenders for the game-winning score, making a nice over-the-shoulder grab in the end zone on a fade route. The consensus seems to be that he is undervalued (he is just the 19th best WR in this year’s draft, according to SB Nation’s Dan Kadar), but NFL teams may question whether he can overcome his lack of size.

As always, be sure to check in SB Nation’s B.J. Kissel on Twitter for observations and photos from practice. Matt Weaver is also on the scene.

He’s a bit of a liability in the run game, but his potential in the pass game was enough for Buffalo Rumblings.
