2013 Senior Bowl: Ryan Nassib receives invitation

Syracuse quarterback Ryan Nassib has earned an invitation to the 2013 Senior Bowl to be played on Jan. 26. He has seen his draft stock rise in recent weeks, with some indicating he could go No. 8 overall to the Buffalo Bills in April.

Syracuse Orange quarterback Ryan Nassib earned an invitation this week to play in the 2013 Senior Bowl at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala., on Jan. 26. He will be among fellow quarterbacks Zach Dysert of Miami (OH), Mike Glennon of NC State, Landry Jones of Oklahoma, Tyler Wilson of Arkansas and E.J. Manuel of Florida State looking to boost his stock before the 2013 NFL Draft.

Nassib, in particular, has seen his draft stock shoot up in recent weeks. He was ranked as the No. 9 best QB prospect in the country by SB Nation's Dan Kader back in December, but after the Buffalo Bills hired former Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone, there has been talk that Nassib could be the team's selection with the No. 8 overall pick in the draft.

The Senior Bowl should give the 6-3, 227-pound Nassib plenty of opportunities to show off his talents for scouts. Geno Smith and Matt Barkley, arguably the top two quarterback prospects in this year's draft class, have opted to skip this year's game, giving more reps to other draft hopefuls whose fates are much less clear.

Syracuse lost five games this past season, but Nassib performed admirably in his third year starting, completing 62.4 percent of his passes for a school-record 3,749 yards and 26 touchdowns, with 10 interceptions. His solid mechanics and accuracy on the move could very well attract the attention of an NFL franchise looking for a starting quarterback in the first round, provided Nassib can impress in pre-draft workouts.
