The spinal stenosis diagnosis of Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones has caused many to be hesitant about the use of an early draft pick on him, but Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that Jones received “a favorable review” from Dr. Craig Brigham, a highly regarded neck and spine specialist who spoke with NFL teams at the 2013 NFL Combine.

When Jones met with the media on Saturday, he told reporters that doctors at the Combine gave him similar feedback. “Most of the doctors checked me out and feel that I’m fine,” Jones said. “I don’t have any contusion or anything like that in it. I only had one incident, a stinger at USC in 2009, my freshman year. I never had any symptoms after that...The doctors felt that I was healthy today. So I’m excited.”
In his junior season with the Bulldogs in 2012, Jones led the nation with 14.5 sacks along with 24.5 tackles for loss and seven forced fumbles. He had similar success in his sophomore year, when he accumulated 13.5 sacks and 19.5 tackles for loss.
Jones elected to pass on the drills at the combine and will instead workout during the Georgia Pro Day on March 21. “Our main focus was the come here and visit with all the doctors so all the doctors can see me,” Jones said. “Take all the tests I can that they needed me to take so that they can see that I’m healthy.”
In the latest mock draft from SB Nation's Dan Kadar, Jones is slotted to the Buffalo Bills with the eighth-overall selection.
