Tennessee pro day 2013: Players scheduled to work out March 20

Tyler Bray, Cordarrelle Patterson, Justin Hunter, Mychal Rivera and Dallas Thomas are expected to participate in Tennessee’s Pro Day on March 20.

Tennessee’s 2013 Pro Day is all set for Wednesday, March 20. Among the participants will be the Volunteers’ NFL Combine contingent: quarterback Tyler Bray, tight end Mychal Rivera, wide receivers Justin Hunter and Cordarrelle Patterson, and offensive lineman Dallas Thomas.

Of those five players, Patterson appears the best shot at a big rookie contract. In fact, he is projected to be the first wide receiver taken in the NFL Draft at No. 23 overall, according to SB Nation’s Dan Kadar. Hunter arguably has just as high a ceiling as his teammate, but whether he has regained the explosiveness he had before tearing his ACL in 2011 remains to be seen.

Bray will also have a lot to prove. Despite a prototypical build and impressive arm strength, he completed less than 60 percent of his passes and threw 12 interceptions, albeit with 34 touchdown passes. He is considered one of the biggest high risk-high reward prospects at his position. Bray currently ranks as Kadar’s fifth-best quarterback, and No. 82 overall prospect.

Rivera and Thomas both have a lot to prove, as well. If Rivera can improve on his 4.81 40-yard dash time, he could make a big jump up draft boards after performing well at last month’s Senior Bowl. Thomas hopes to show off the athleticism that made him a versatile asset as a three-year starter for the Vols.
