The new regime in charge of the Jacksonville Jaguars, featuring general manager David Caldwell and head coach Gus Bradley, have publicly backed quarterback Blaine Gabbert, but the 2011 first-round pick should feel far from comfortable with his starting role, as there will be a quarterback competition in the fall.

Caldwell told Alex Marvez and Jim Miller on Sirius XM Radio that the team will look to add talent to compete with Gabbert and Chad Henne for the starting role:
While offering some encouraging words about Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne, new Jaguars general manager David Caldwell said he is actively searching to add "at least one other quarterback into the fold, possibly two." He also said the spot could get addressed "through the draft, college free agency, pro free agency or however we may get him."
Owners of the second overall selection in the 2013 NFL Draft, the most obvious solution for the team would be West Virginia’s Geno Smith. After sending a huge contingency to the WVU Pro Day, Bradley told reporters that he was “very impressed” with Smith.
Another potential player that the Jaguars could consider is Florida State's E.J. Manuel, as John Kryk of the Toronto Sun reports that the former-Seminoles passer is scheduled to meet with the Jaguars privately.
The Jaguars finished the 2012 season with a 2-14 record as both Gabbert and Henne finished the season with completion percentages under 60 percent and quarterback ratings under 80.
