Pro Day schedule 2013: South Carolina, LSU, USC hold workouts Wednesday

Plenty of talented NFL Draft prospects, including Barkevious Mingo and Matt Barkley, take the practice field for pro day workouts across the country on Wednesday.

NFL pro day workouts hit the final stretch of dates as the calendar soon flips to April, and Wednesday represents arguably the most important day left for players and scouts alike. The USC Trojans, LSU Tigers, South Carolina Gamecocks, Connecticut Huskies and SMU Mustangs all take their turn in the spotlight. Admittedly, it's a different-sized spotlight depending on where we're focusing.

To begin, the Bayou Bengals have a slew of players working out. The best is probably hybrid pass-rusher Barkevious Mingo, who SB Nation's Dan Kadar sees going seventh overall in the draft to the Arizona Cardinals in his latest mock. Mingo, an instant threat to any quarterback, is one of the best overall players in this year's draft and doesn't figure to slip out of the top ten.

It doesn't stop there for LSU. Defensive end Sam Montgomery, one of SB Nation's ten best at the position, will be there most likely giving a full effort, along with linebacker Kevin Minter and safety Eric Reid as well. Cornerback and former playmaking force at LSU, Tyrann Mathieu, will work out with the team and try to further boost his draft stock after being dismissed from the Tigers prior to the 2012 season.

Others who'll be working out at LSU include offensive linemen Josh Dworaczyk, Chris Faulk, Alex Hurst and P.J. Lonergan, defensive end Lavar Edwards, running backs Michael Ford and Spencer Ware, defensive tackle Bennie Logan, wide receiver Russell Sheppard, cornerback Tharold Simon and punter Brad Wing.

Over at South Carolina, lots of the focus will be on running back Marcus Lattimore and his continuing recovery from a grisly knee injury in 2012. Lattimore is SB Nation's third-best back in the draft, and really, it's just good to see him so ready for pro day workouts.

Former Gamecocks safety D.J. Swearinger is also a prospect to watch, along with wide receiver Ace Sanders. Others who'll be working out for South Carolina include tight end Justice Cunningham, linebackers DeVonte Holloman and Shaq Wilson, center T.J. Johnson and defensive end Devin Taylor.

At USC, quarterback Matt Barkley's throws figure to be highly-scrutinized since he didn't do any quarterback drills at the NFL Combine, but early-entry wide receiver Robert Woods, SB Nation's fifth-best wideout, could also vault his stock in a pretty strong draft class of receivers.

Center Khaled Holmes, safeties T.J. McDonald and Jawanza Starling, defensive end Wes Horton and cornerback Nickell Robey are the other Trojans working out Wednesday.

The Huskies' workout likely begins with cornerback Blidi Wreh-Wilson, the seventh-rated corner in the draft by SB Nation's Kadar. He recorded one interception and nine passes broken up in 2012. Connecticut will also feature cornerback Dwayne Gratz, linebacker Sio Moore and defensive end Trevardo Williams at their pro day.

Lastly, Southern Methodist will showcase wide receiver Darius Johnson and running back Zach Line, but the main attraction will be defensive end Margus Hunt. Hunt already left an impression at the combine with his athleticism and freakish physical specs, but in a group as crowded with talent as this year's defensive line class is, more than one good showing certainly won't hurt come draft day.
