2013 NFL Draft tight end rankings

Jared Wickerham

Our final tight end rankings for the 2013 NFL Draft haven’t changed at the top in months. While the college football season wore on, Notre Dame’s Tyler Eifert looked like the best tight end by a wide margin. As the offseason process played out, he only affirmed it.

As Eifert has stayed at the top spot, Zach Ertz of Stanford has come in at No. 2. He’s not quite the blocker Eifert is, but he’s as good of a receiving target. Many of the top tight ends in the draft this year are deficient in blocking. Players like Gavin Escobar of San Diego State and Jordan Reed of Florida are almost exclusively receiving tight ends.

There are some good blockers, though. Dion Sims of Michigan State and Michael Williams of Alabama can both stay in line and block like an extra offensive lineman.
