NFL Draft 2013: Chip Kelly says draft lacks ‘can’t miss’ player

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly can’t find a sure thing when looking at the NFL’s 2013 draft class, though he does see some quality players on the board.

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly doesn't think the 2013 NFL Draft contains any "can't miss" players, unlike last year. Kelly, who was the head coach at Oregon for the last four years has first hand experience with several players in this draft and believes it has good depth, but lacks a can't miss Andrew Luck-type player. "I don't see that type of guy in this draft, at any position, to be honest with you," Kelly said.

Kelly spoke about how this draft class in particular as been tough to predict along the way, with few of the top draft prospects coming from the top high school recruits of four and five years ago. He noted that while at Oregon he recruited Dion Jordan to Oregon as a wide receiver, and now he is one of the top defensive end/outside linebacker prospects in the draft.

“I think there are some quality players in this draft, and that’s our job in this draft. But I don’t think, by any stretch of the imagination, there’s slam dunks,” Kelly said.

The Eagles hold the No. 4 overall pick in the draft and could go a number of ways with their pick. The latest mock draft from Mocking the Draft has Philadelphia selecting West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith in the first round.
