2013 NFL Draft news: Lotulelei healthy, Chiefs down to 4 for top pick

As fast as Utah defensive tackle Star Lotulelei fell from the top of mock drafts, he may rise just as quickly after recent tests in Salt Lake City showed his heart has "no evidence" of the dysfunction that was discovered at the 2013 NFL Combine. While NFL teams will trust their own doctors, if the most recent tests are true, Lotulelei could be one of the most elite prospects in the draft.

In the most recent draft rankings from SB Nation's Dan Kadar, Lotulelei is ranked as the second-best prospect on the board, behind only Texas A&M offensive tackle Luke Joeckel, the player that most consider the favorite to be the top pick in the NFL Draft.

Both Lotulelei and Joeckel could be considered for the top pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, as the Kansas City Chiefs have yet to narrow their choices to one candidate. Instead, they are reportedly down to four candidates, although it's anyone's guess who the four are.

Among the other possibilities are Central Michigan's Eric Fisher, Florida's Sharrif Floyd or even West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith, despite the fact that the Chiefs traded for Alex Smith and signed Chase Daniel in free agency. Smith and the Chiefs met privately on Monday and Tuesday; however, it could be a smokescreen designed to stir up interest for a trade for the top pick.

If the Chiefs are looking for a trade partner, they may be out of luck, according to Kadar. Following moves by the Oakland Raiders and Buffalo Bills, along with a move expected soon from the Arizona Cardinals, Kadar says the market to trade the pick to a team looking to draft Geno Smith has been "watered down."

While the Bills signed Kevin Kolb to satisfy their immediate need at quarterback, the position could still use a promising prospect long-term for the team. One player commonly connected with the team is Syracuse's Ryan Nassib, who played his entire collegiate career under the tutelage of Doug Marrone, the new head coach of the Bills.

Nassib is scheduled to work out for the Bills, but is just one of many quarterbacks the team has kept a close eye on. Along with Nassib, the Bills have worked out Smith, Matt Barkley, E.J. Manuel, Landry Jones, and are scheduled to work out Tennessee's Tyler Bray.

As Nassib could be in for a reunion with his college coach in Buffalo, Oregon offensive tackle Kyle Long could be in for a reunion, as well; although, his would be of the family variety. According to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Dispatch, Long has a visit scheduled with the St. Louis Rams, the team of his older brother, defensive end Chris Long.

Kansas State linebacker Arthur Brown did everything you'd expect from a first-round pick during his time with the Wildcats, but due to his lack of elite size, many expected him to be available in the second day. However, he could be the top linebacker in the class, according to a recent report.

If that's the case, he could go as early as the 13th pick to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but it's difficult to imagine that he could fall past the 32nd pick, owned by the Baltimore Ravens, another team with a need at middle linebacker.
