NFL Draft 2013: Sharrif Floyd to work out for Eagles

Sharrif Floyd is set to work out with the Eagles on Friday. He could be a perfect fit for what Chip Kelly likes to do on defense, assuming he falls past the Raiders to No. 4 in the 2013 NFL Draft.

USA TODAY Sports

Florida defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd will work out for the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Floyd is considered one of the top prospects at his position in the 2013 NFL Draft, and is currently projected to go No. 3 overall to the Oakland Raiders in SB Nation's latest mock draft.

The Eagles are currently slotted at No. 4 in the draft order, and could very well be in a position to draft Floyd if the Raiders decide to go another direction. Floyd would be a good fit in Philly should Chip Kelly run a similar defense to one he had at Oregon. An active 3-4/4-3 under defense would place Floyd as either a 5-technique defensive end or a 3-technique defensive tackle, both spots where he thrived while at Florida. He even stood up at times with the Gators. Kelly and defensive coordinator Billy Davis would no doubt appreciate the versatility.

Floyd is also a Philadelphia native, making the fit a good one from a personal standpoint. If the Raiders do take Floyd, however, the Eagles may pass on a defensive tackle in the first round altogether. Star Lotulelei and Sheldon Richardson may not fit what Kelly seemingly wants to do on defense. Currently, SB Nation projects Central Michigan left tackle Eric Fisher to the Eagles at No. 4 overall.
