NFL Draft 2013: Dion Jordan excited about Browns defense

The Oregon pass rusher is excited about how he fits with the Cleveland Browns defense should they pick him with the No. 6 selection in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Dion Jordan feels that he would fit well in Cleveland's new defensive scheme if he is selected by the Browns with the No. 6 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. "I think I could really help those guys back there if I was coming off the edge," Jordan told The Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot.

Jordan's former Oregon teammate and current Browns safety T.J. Ward gave Jordan a sales pitch about the team, but "he didn't have to do much pumping up to get me excited about playing for the Browns," Jordan said. He believes there are many similarities between the Browns' new defense and the Oregon defensive scheme he ran in college.

Jordan could play either defensive end or outside linebacker in the NFL. If selected by the Browns, he would play outside linebacker in the 3-4 scheme new defensive coordinator Ray Horton is installing. Jordan would enter training camp as the likely starter at right outside linebacker, opposite new Cleveland acquisition, Paul Kruger, an idea Jordan seemed to like, saying, "I think I'd make a good bookend with Paul Kruger."

While Jordan might be a good fit in Cleveland, it is likely he won't be available at the No. 6 pick. Both the Jacksonville Jaguars at No. 2 and the Philadelphia Eagles at No. 4 have expressed interest in Jordan. In his latest mock draft, SB Nation's Dan Kadar has Jordan going to Jacksonville with the No. 2 overall selection.
