NFL Draft 2013: Jaguars expect to keep 2nd pick

The Jacksonville Jaguars aren’t looking to move from the No. 2 overall position in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Melina Vastola-USA TODAY Sports

Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell would be surprised if the Jags trade out of the No. 2 overall position in the 2013 NFL Draft according to Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union. Caldwell addressed the media on Monday and indicated that he had a good idea of who Jacksonville would select with the No. 2 pick.

Of course, as the draft nears, no team wants to seem desperate to trade out of its draft position as Adam Stites at Big Cat Country notes. Caldwell and the Jags could very well have a player in mind, but Stites also believes it could be a ploy. Stites explains his logic, saying, “that way, if a team hopes to trade for it, they’ll be forced to wrestle it away from the Jaguars, who have publicly said they intend to use it.”

In the most recent mock draft from Dan Kadar at Mocking the Draft, the Jaguars select Dion Jordan from Oregon with their first-round pick. The Jags have been tied to quarterback Geno Smith in mock drafts in the past and are rumored to have shown interest in drafting an offensive tackle with the No. 2 overall pick as well.
