NFL Draft rumors: Cardinals high on D.J. Fluker

Add another team to the list of those who are taking a strong liking to the Alabama tackle.

USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Cardinals could be looking to bulk up their offensive line and are "extremely high" on Alabama Crimson Tide tackle D.J. Fluker, according to a report from CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora on Wednesday.

La Canfora is trying to sort out who could go where once the NFL Draft kicks off, focusing especially on Thursday night's first round, and he says that sources indicated Arizona is very interested in Fluker. He notes that Oklahoma's Lane Johnson is another strong option for the Cardinals, who own the seventh overall pick in the draft.

Dan Kadar's latest SB Nation mock draft has Arizona selecting Alabama guard Chance Warmack, so the interest in Fluker would represent a shift in positional want for the Cardinals compared to Kadar's current projections. Fluker is the draft's fourth-rated offensive tackle by SB Nation's Matthew Fairburn.

In 2012, the Cardinals averaged 75.3 rushing yards per game, the worst in the league, and Fluker, one of this year's better run-blocking prospects, would figure to help towards Arizona's efforts in bumping that number up. They also surrendered a league-worst 58 sacks and will need to do a better job of protecting new quarterback Carson Palmer, especially against the imposing defenses that reside in the NFC West.
