The St. Louis Rams’ second first-round pick (No. 22) is “clearly for sale” with just hours to go before the clock starts, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The Rams acquired the No. 22 selection from the Washington Redskins in 2012. St. Louis also owns the 16th overall pick.

In his final mock draft for SB Nation, Dan Kadar projects the Rams taking Texas Longhorns safety Kenny Vaccaro at No. 16 and Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson at No. 22, potentially addressing two of their top three team needs in one round.
That Schefter reported this tidbit legitimizes the rumor that’s been floating around for awhile, writes Ryan Van Bibber for Turf Show Times, though it still doesn’t clear up which direction St. Louis could be thinking of moving. Of course, some of it depends on what they do with the 16th selection, but a possible move, especially up, may paint a clearer picture of where their top priorities lie.
They could, in theory, trade back and still land a receiver capable of producing early, but as Van Bibber notes, if their hearts are set on West Virginia Mountaineers wideout Tavon Austin, they'll probably need to move in front of their No. 16 pick to nab him. In that case, the question is: Do they want to draft an impactful receiver or do they want to draft Austin? That could be the best indicator for who the pick's buyers might be, as well as the cost of moving.
And that’s just the wide receiver spot. Since this is pretty much all guesswork right now, maybe St. Louis just wants to stockpile a few more picks rather than devote a huge chunk of their draft to two guys in the mid-to-late-first round, widening the net in an effort to take better advantage of a deep draft lacking in truly elite, standalone talent.
