2013 NFL Draft buzz: Ziggy Ansah among prospects making several visits

With the NFL Draft approaching teams are meeting with top prospects as they attempt to narrow down their potential selections.

USA TODAY Sports

The NFL Draft is less than a month away and teams are working out as many prospects as they can in an attempt to sort out their draft boards. This draft is one of the most wide open in years, making these individual workouts all the more important for the prospects trying to secure first-round status.

One of the top overall prospects, defensive end Ziggy Ansah of BYU has already visited the Carolina Panthers, Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns with upcoming trips to the Arizona Cardinals and New Orleans Saints scheduled according to Ian Rapoport. The latest from Mocking the Draft has Ansah going to the Detroit Lions at No. 5 overall.

The Lions met with offensive guard Chance Warmack of Alabama recently and were quite impressed. It is rare that a guard is selected with a top-five pick, but it is possible Warmack could slide up that high. Detroit also recently met with Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o.

The Tennessee Titans have been busy lately, with Texas safety Kenny Vaccaro visiting on Wednesday. Vaccaro joins Florida State cornerback Xavier Rhodes and California guard Brian Schwenke as recent visitors to Tennessee according to Jim Wyatt. The Titans are also expected to host Georgia defensive tackle John Jenkins on Wednesday. Jenkins is also scheduled to head to the 49ers next week according to Rapoport.

The St. Louis Rams are taking a long look at available linebackers on Wednesday as Gerald Hodges from Penn State and Arthur Brown of Kansas State are both scheduled for visits according to Jim Thomas.

Finally, LSU defensive end Sam Montgomery recently visited with both the Cincinnati Bengals and San Diego Chargers according to Aaron Wilson.
