Is the quarterback class for the 2014 NFL Draft actually better than this year, or is that just something we like to tell ourselves in August?
2014 NFL Draft quarterback rankings

At this time last year, Matt Barkley and Tyler Wilson were expected to develop into first-round locks. Both slipped to the fourth round of the draft. Logan Thomas were supposed to improve on promising sophomore season and head to the NFL as some type of Cam Newton/Ben Roethlisberger hybrid super QB. Packed with a big arm and size, Zach Mettenberger was to be a one-year-only starter at LSU. Both Thomas and Mettenberger are back for another season.
Now, we are to believe that Teddy Bridgewater of Louisville is going to continue his climb and become 1b to Jadeveon Clowney's 1a on NFL draft boards. Bridgewater is poised for a big season with a loaded receiver group and an easy schedule. Clemson's Tajh Boyd rates so highly because of his gradual improvement. Stephen Morris of Miami throws a beautiful ball. Devin Gardner of Michigan could be the next Ryan Tannehill. Redshirt sophomores Kevin Hogan, Brett Hundley and Marcus Mariota enter the season with high hopes.
Then there's Johnny Manziel. The lightning rod of all lightning rods. From now until he gets drafted, Manziel will unquestionably be the most debated prospect in college football. In that regard, he's a smaller Tim Tebow with fewer religious overtones and a better throwing motion.
