2014 NFL Draft center rankings

Travis Frederick came out of nowhere in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Is there a candidate to do the same in 2014?

Tom Pennington

It's always a good draft for centers when one is drafted in the first round. That was the case last April when the Dallas Cowboys plucked Wisconsin's Travis Frederick off the board late in the first round.

What Frederick had going for him was his versatility. He has the ability to play all along the interior of the offensive line, which is a huge boost to his NFL value.

Whether or not this center class shows that same versatility remains to be scene. The top three centers in the class, Bryan Stork, Gabe Ikard and Travis Swanson all have the ability to play in zone-blocking scheme due to intelligence and athleticism.

The sleeper center to watch at this point in the season is James Stone at Tennessee.

Here’s our full list. Let us know who we missed.

1. Bryan Stork | 6'3, 312 pounds | Center | Florida State
2. Gabe Ikard | 6'3, 298 pounds | Center | Oklahoma
3. Travis Swanson | 6'4, 314 pounds | Center | Arkansas
4. Tyler Larsen | 6'3, 310 pounds | Center | Utah State
5. Russell Bodine | 6'4, 310 pounds | Center | North Carolina *
6. James Stone | 6'3, 291 pounds | Center | Tennessee
7. Zac Kerin | 6'5, 300 pounds | Center | Toledo
