2014 NFL Draft guard rankings

It may not be the 2013 guard class, but the 2014 NFL Draft has a few immediate starters among the interior offensive linemen.

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

While the 2013 NFL Draft had a loaded class of guards at the top, 2014 isn't too far behind it in terms of depth.

The top four guards in this class all should be starting day one. UCLA's Xavier Su'a-Filo has the type of movement skills that will get him drafted very high come May. Cyril Richardson is similarly talented at the second level of the defense and, like Su'a-Filo, has played all over the line during his college career. The same can be said for Stanford's David Yankey. Noticing a trend? Versatility and movement in space are crucial for the modern day NFL guard. The top three in this class all have those traits.

Mississippi State's Gabe Jackson isn't a slouch, though. He's well versed in pass protection after calling the shots for his offensive line as a senior. He has a fair amount of power to his game but it's his technique that separates him.

One name absent from this list who may be on it by the time the draft rolls around is Zack Martin of Notre Dame. We currently have him listed as a tackle, but that could change after the Senior Bowl. Here's our full list of 19 guards.
