2015 NFL Draft order: Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the No. 1 pick

The Buccaneers narrowly lost on Sunday and now have the top pick in the draft for the first time since 1987. The Tennessee Titans hold the No. 2 pick.

All the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had to do was lose on Sunday. Considering that’s what Tampa did 10 of the previous 11 weeks, that should have been expected against the New Orleans Saints.

Update: Check out our 2015 NFL Draft preview.

The Buccaneers made a game of it, losing 23-20 to the Saints and with that loss Tampa officially secured the No. 1 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Now Tampa will likely decide which Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback they prefer: Oregon’s Marcus Mariota or Florida State’s Jameis Winston. In the unlikely event they pass on quarterbacks, Nebraska defensive end Randy Gregory is a name to keep in mind.

Tampa Bay last had the top pick in the draft in 1987 and used it on quarterback Vinny Testaverde. They also had the top pick in 1986, 1977 and 1976.

The Tennessee Titans, which lost to the Indianapolis Colts Sunday, will hold the No. 2 pick in the draft.

On ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown, Chris Mortensen said the Titans were “content” with sixth-round pick Zach Mettenberger at quarterback and they’re not urgent to use a high draft pick on a quarterback. But with the future of general manager Ruston Webster being questioned, that report should carry little meaning.

The complete order for the 2015 NFL Draft will be updated as the Week 17 games go final.
